The owners

The SANDWIRTH is one of the most history-rich buildings and hotels in the provincial capital of Klagenfurt. It required a future-oriented managment with a sense for tradition to continue to run it as a modern and up-to-date hotel. The history of the owner's family, Kanduth, has close ties to this building and even had its origins there - one could almost say it is destiny.


In 2002 the successful industrialist Robert Kanduth, managing partner of the company GreenOneTec, took over the historic hotel with the firm vision to make it the first choice in Klagenfurt. He already had a personal connection with this building. More than 30 years before, as an apprentice, he had been in the nobel hotel for the first time to repair the revolving door. Even then it was very special for him. And it was the same when many years later he was looking for long-term investments. Whether the new revolving door of the annex pays homage to a young man's dream will probably remain a secret!

However, it is not a secret that the SANDWIRTH continued to influence the private history of the family. It was one year after he had taken over the hotel, on 8th April 2003 at about 11pm when Robert Kanduth got to know his present wife, Helvig, and invited her to the SANDWIRTH. It was love at first sight and in the Literature Lounge words finally developed into special feelings. So the SANDWIRTH got a family!


In 2008 Helvig Kanduth, a gradute in business administration, took on the management and is in charge of the extension of the SANDWIRTH to become the city's meeting point. As the new manager of the SANDWIRTH she positions the business hotel as the stage of the business world and relies on the latest technological equipment combined with a high feel-good factor and special service quality.
